Ataman: “An audience support like tonight’s holds great importance on our Euroleague path…”

Defeating Greece’s Panathinaikos OPAP 78-62 in the 7th-week match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague game, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“We began mentally strong to the match. I believe the key to the victory against Panathinaikos OPAP is this. As because they are an aggressive team, they never quit. We witnessed it in the last Olympiacos match they’ve played. We played an aggressive defense from the beginning of the game. We controlled Calathe’s drivings well. We made a tough defense on Langford and Lojeski. We used the painted area well. We didn’t allow them to set their offense and especially Beaubois and Micic’s transitions let us score easy points. The second half was similar to the first half. We made 39 rebounds tonight, though Panathinaikos OPAP had 32. Also, another very important point is we finished the match with 8 blocks. This shows how aggressive and mentally strong we were. We moved the ball around well. Even though we missed some simple shots we received a clear victory. We are playing in Euroleague. Every match has a different story. We showed a good character and played well tonight. There was an amazing audience support here tonight. An audience support like tonight’s holds great importance on our Euroleague path for all the home games…”
