Efes snatches a critical win on the way to playoffs: 79-75

Hosting the Russian side Nizhny Novgorod in the 11th week match of Euroleague Top 16 Group F, Anadolu Efes won the game 79-75. Anadolu Efes was ahead 48-39 at the halftime of the match, played at Abdi İpekçi Arena.

Starting the match with Heurtel, Draper, Perperoglou, Saric and Lasme, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Lasme. With Perperoglou’s four points followed by Heurtel’s layup, Efes was trailing 14-9 passing through the fifth minute. Scoring another field goal with Heurtel after the TV timeout, Efes got points with Perperoglou and Lasme, trailing 15-17 at 7.30. Tying the game with Heurtel and Bjelica’s points, Efes claimed the lead 21-19 with Perperoglou in the final minute of the quarter. With three more points by Bjelica through an and-one, Efes was leading 24-21 at the end of the first 10 minutes of the game. Following Bjelica’s field goal to open the score sheet in the quarter, Saric hit a three pointer in the 11th minute: 29-23. Ahead 34-27 after Cedi and Lasme’s points, Efes converted the steal into an and-one with Bjelica, increasing the lead to 10 points in the 14th minute: 37-27. Leading 37-33 at 15.30 after the opponent’s 6-0 scoring run, Efes was ahead 41-36 in the 17th minute with points in the paint by Bjelica and Cedi. Heurtel and Saric’s points in the remaining three minutes helped Anadolu Efes towards a halftime score of 48-39.

Opening the score sheet for Efes in the second half, Perperoglou increased the lead to 11 points: 50-39. In response to the opponent who brought the lead down to five points to make it 50-45 at 23.30, Efes scored with Bjelica and Janning, leading 54-45 in the 25th minute. With an and-one at 26.30, Cedi increased the lead back to 10 points: 57:47. Scoring with Lasme and Birkan in the final minutes of the quarter, Efes was leading 64-52 while heading into the final quarter. With Bjelica and Cedi scoring our first points in the final quarter from the foul line, Efes was ahead 67-55 passing through the 33rd minute. Increasing the lead to 15 points in the 34th minute with three points by Draper, Efes made it 70-55. Following Lasme’s mid-range jumper, Cedi hit a three pointer as Efes was leading by 18 points while heading into the 35th minute: 75-57. Unable to prevent a scoring run to still lead 75-67 in the 38th minute, Efes made it 78-67 with Draper’s three pointer. Retaining the lead despite the opponent’s scoring, Anadolu Efes got another point by Birkan with a free throw, and left the court victorious 79-75.
