Efes takes the leader down: 73-72

Hosting Darüşşafaka at the 12th week match-up of Turkish Basketball League, Anadolu Efes won the game 73-72. The game was tied at 36 at the halftime of the match, played at Abdi İpekçi Arena.

Starting the match with Doğuş, Cedi, Janning, Saric and Lasme, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Saric. Scoring with Doğuş, Lasme and Cedi, the team was trailing 14-10 with five minutes played. While the team was down 18-10 in the sixth minute, Nenad Krstic was subbed in. It was his first time playing after a long injury. Tying the score at 18 with Janning and Perperoglou with 2.20 left to play in the quarter, Anadolu Efes took the lead for the first time in the game with 20 seconds to play in the first quarter with Perperoglou’s mid-range jumper: 20-18. Conceding three points in the remaining time, Anadolu Efes was trailing 21-20 after the first 10 minutes of the game. Scoring our first field goal in the second quarter, Perperoglou went into double digits and helped the team close the gap, making it 26-23 in the 12th minute. Trailing 32-29 with 15 minutes played in the game after Furkan and Krstic’s points, Anadolu Efes tied the game once more in the 18th minute with Janning and Doğuş: 33-33. As Furkan responded to the opponent’s three-pointer with his own, the score for the first half was 36-36.

Opening the scoring in the second half, Cedi put Anadolu Efes up once more: 38-36. Janning scored two three-pointers in a row, helping Anadolu Efes retain the lead 44-42 at the 25th minute. Doğuş had three points to make it 47-42 at 25.30. With Lasme, Perperoglou and Furkan helping the score, Anadolu Efes was up by five points with one and a half minutes to play in the quarter: 54-49. Responding to the opponent’s 8-0 scoring run in the last 1.30 with Doğuş in the last second, Anadolu Efes was trailing 57-56 while entering the final quarter.

As Janning scored our first points in the final quarter, the score was tied at 59 in the 33rd minute. Getting another three-point field goal, Janning put the team up 62-59 with 35 minutes played in the game. With 2.40 left to play in the game, Cedi got a single accurate free throw as Anadolu Efes was trailing 67-63. As Perperoglou scored a very critical three-pointer with 1.50 left to play, the team was trailing 67-66. Stealing the ball with Furkan, Anadolu Efes reclaimed the lead with 1.23 to play with Perperoglou’s points: 69-67. Getting its 71st point with Lasme, Anadolu Efes was leading 73-72 with 10 seconds to play in the game. Playing strong defense in the last 10 seconds, Anadolu Efes left the court victorious 73-72.
