Hard-fought win for Anadolu Efes: 80-79

Maintaining the preparations for the new season, Anadolu Efes won the pre-season match against Darüşşafaka 80-79. Anadolu Efes was ahead 42-33 at the halftime of the match, played at Ayhan Şahenk Sports Hall. With this victory, Efes has won all five of its pre-season matches so far.

Cedi Osman, Furkan Korkmaz and Dario Saric, playing at the European Basketball Championship with their national teams, Doğuş Balbay, who was injured during training with the Turkish National Team before the European Championship, Ahmet Düverioğlu, who sprained his ankle in yesterday’s training, and Nenad Krstic, out with an injury, did not play in the match.

Starting the match with Granger, Oğulcan, Diebler, Brown and Tyus, Anadolu Efes got its first points by Diebler and Tyus. With Efes leading 7-5 while heading into the third minute, both teams cranked up the defense, and the score was tied at 9 after Oğulcan’s field goal in the seventh minute. Scoring with Brown and Dunston from the paint and with Heurtel from the outside, Efes was leading 18-16 at the end of the first 10 minutes of the game. Starting the second quarter with three pointers by Emircan and Okben, Efes was ahead 24-16 at 12.30. Leading 30-21 through the 15th minute with Heurtel and Birkan’s points, Anadolu Efes kept scoring with Dunston, Brown and Diebler, increasing the lead at 18.30 for the first time to double digits: 40-28. Getting two more points in the final minute, Efes was leading 42-33 at the halftime.

With Okben and Tyus scoring our first points in the second half, Efes was leading 46-37 through the 22nd minute. Increasing the lead to 12 points with Heurtel, Efes got points by Tyus and Brown, and made it 58-44 in the 26th minute. After Diebler’s remarkable performance, Tyus’s points set the score for the third quarter: 67-54. Getting into the final quarter with Dunston’s field goal, Efes increased the lead to 15 points in the 34th minute with two three-pointers in a row by Diebler: 75-60. Leading 79-67 in the last three minutes with Dunston’s points, Anadolu Efes got a single accurate free throw by Heurtel in the remaining time, and left the court victorious 80-79.
