Ahmet Çakı: “We had a low percentage of outside shooting...”

Defeated by Fenerbahçe 85-87 at the first match of Spor Toto Basketball League playoff finals, Anadolu Efes coach Ahmet Çakı stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“Even though we fought well in the first match of Spor Toto Basketball League playoff finals, our outside shooting percentage was low, and we failed to attack well against Fenerbahçe’s switching defense. Despite strong defense, we allowed our opponent to take control of the game in the final quarter. In the final two minutes of the third quarter, we lost our rhythm. We fought really well. 87 points might seem much, but our opponent took 37 free throws. Our main problem was our inability to attack against our opponent’s switching defense. As a team, we only made 9 assists. We had a low percentage of outside shooting. When we wasted our chances in offense, it gave Fenerbahçe the rhythm needed to win the first match. The series is still going on. We will prepare as good as we can for the second game, and we will stand on the court to win it...”

Anadolu Efes’s young talent Furkan Korkmaz also stated his thoughts: “This is a very long series. We fought until the very last minute. We had to win at our home court. We failed to reflect our pressing game to the whole match. Fenerbahçe cut the lead down, and won the match. Starting tomorrow, we should prepare for our second match...”
