Ataman: “It was an extremely positive match for us…”

Head coach Ergin Ataman of Anadolu Efes, who won the match in the 15th week of the Türkiye Sigorta Basketball Super League, by 96-77 against Yukatel Merkezefendi Belediyesi Basket, explained his views as follows:

“This is a league game, I don't think it's very challenging. When you look at it, we scored 96 points, we are not in the mood to score 150 points. Today we rested our two players, Will Clyburn and Vasilije Micić, who have taken a lot of time recently. Today, we had a serious rotation during the match and we received some contributions from our young player Furkan Haltalı, which is very promising, the contribution is very important for us in that area, he played with 10 points and 6 rebounds in 20 minutes. Apart from that, Buğrahan Tuncer fidgeted and found his own scores. Egehan Arna fought well. We used Ante Žižić well throughout the match.

After all, this team is a team that has won serious victories in the Turkish League, is above us in the rankings like Fenerbahçe Beko and Türk Telekom, and beat Galatasaray Nef. I don't think it's hard for them. Of course, Yukatel Merkezefendi Belediye Basket played their own game and tried to win, but we were the dominant side throughout the match. Erten Gazi was sick and Karahan Tuan Efeoğlu did not play because he was injured. Shane Larkin's performance is promising, he is getting better every day, and he is very eager not only for the points he scored in attack, but when I looked at the defense in the first half, he had 5 shots. In that perspective, it was a very positive league match for us.”
