Ataman: “I’m not upset…”

Defeated by Fenerbahçe Beko 86-76 in the sixth finale match of Tahincioğlu Basketball Super League game, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

"We didn’t play well on offense tonight. Especially, our performance on outer shoots was bad. Our two scoring players Larkin and Micic’s 2/14 out shoots forced us. Buğrahan’s contribution in the first half helped us to come back. In the second half, we’ve played well for a while but we’ve managed to keep up with our defense and had trouble with rebounds. Our rebound is 26 against Fenerbahçe Beko’s 39 rebounds. Fenerbahçe Beko won the match at the end of the day. I congratulate Fenerbahçe Beko. We didn’t win the trophy tonight but I’m not upset at all. I’ve played roughly 20 finales in my 22 years of a basketball career, I’ve played 4 finales in Europe, and won 3 of them. I’ve just lost one last month. My family was beside me in all of the finale matches I’ve played throughout my career. We’ve won most of them, celebrated together. Lost some of them, but we were still together but even though they wanted to be here so much I couldn’t take my family with me here tonight. I’m inviting the families of Fenerbahçe Beko coach, executives, and all of the players to Sinan Erdem. We are playing the best series of Turkish Basketball with Fenerbahçe Beko. I would like to end my words with this; the truth writes the history, and we will write the history by winning the trophy in Sinan Erdem with all of our friends, families, and fans.”

Our player Vasilije Micic shared his thoughts at the press conference: “I have nothing else to say but they’ve played better than us tonight. Their energy was higher. We’ve done everything we can but it wasn’t enough. We would like to become the champion in front of our fans.”
