Ataman: “Our race for the leadership will continue till the end…”

Defeating Fenerbahçe Beko team 67-65 in the 20th-week match of Tahincioğlu Basketball Super League game, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman shared his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“Our players have put on a great fight. We were head to head with Fenerbahçe until the mids of the third quarter, even though we had to play with less players. Doğuş has a serious injury, Buğrahan was injured during the 5th minute from his pubic and so we couldn’t use him either. Then the tiredness kicked in. Fenerbahçe seriously plays well. We defend and defend and they score tough points with Datome, and Dixon. They pass you at some point, and they did too. When we were trailing 10 points, and thinking that the match is over, we’ve changed our zone defence unit to Sertaç, Dunston and Moerman for the first time in this season. Then Fenerbahçe stopped there and went out from their usual line up. At the offensive end, we weren’t able to punish the switching defence of our opponent. We’ve participated into the game with a difference offense system. With the tempo of coming back, Larkin joined in and we’ve won the match. This is a very important win. The both teams have the same points now. Our race for the leadership will continue till the end against Fenerbahçe.”

Our player James Anderson shared his thoughts at the press conference: “It was a tough match. Both teams showed great power but we’ve won in the end.”
