Ataman: “We became tired in the overtime…”

Defeated by Fenerbahçe 79-86 in the 5th-week match of Tahincioğlu Basketball Super League game, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“Fenerbahçe began well in the first part of the match. We couldn’t balance the rebounds, especially on the defense, though we have reacted afterward. Even though there were a few breaking points during the game, we held on with responding and lead the score in the most important part, in the last 20 seconds of the match. In that part Dunston missed and Kalinic scored a three-pointer and so we were to play overtime. We became tired, when you look into the minutes, we have issues especially on the frontcourt in the league. Fenerbahçe has more experienced frontcourt players. Dunston and Moerman played almost the entire game tonight and became tired on the overtime. It was a good match. The audience must’ve enjoyed it as well. I congratulate Fenerbahçe.”

Our player Bryant Dunston also stated his thoughts at the press-conference: “Actually, we played well enough to win. Though we couldn’t do what we had to do at the end of the match and in the overtime. We let Fenerbahçe score easy points from the free-throw line. You’re not supposed to let your opponent score easy points especially if you are playing against a team like Fenerbahçe. It is good to see the fighting as a team but we are here to win the match. Thus, we have to be better when we go onto the arena next time.”
