Ataman: “We’ve played a better and more organized basketball in the second half…”

Defeating Banvit 87-77 in the semi-final second match of Tahincioğlu Basketball Super League game and advanced to the semifinals, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

"We’ve started the match as we’ve wanted, and we’ve raised the point difference especially at the beginning of the second half but we were cut off from the game discipline. We’ve shot early shoots, Banvit came-back. We’ve finished the quarter trailing by 3 points while we were 14 points ahead. We’ve evaluated this during the half-time. I can state that we’ve played better and more organized basketball in the second half. We didn’t make the same mistakes as we’ve done in the first half, we’ve performed a better defense and won the match in the end. I congratulate Banvit for the character they’ve shown on the court and their basketball in these series. They’ve shown a great difference after coach Hakan took the lead, they’ve managed to come to the playoffs from the bottom of the league. I hope that Banvit Club continues in Bandırma because it is one of the most important clubs that train players for Turkish Basketball. They’ve given chances to younger Turkish players in these series.”

Our successful player Kurnoslav Simon who extended his contract for 2 years last week shared his thoughts at the press conference: “It was a tough game as we expected it to be. They’ve played tough with the thought that this match could be their last in this season for them. We’ve won the match especially with the performance we’ve put on in the second half.”
