Ataman: “We’ve played a very well basketball throughout three quarters…”

Defeating Beşiktaş Sompo Japan 78-70 at the quarter-finals of the Domestic Cup and qualify for the finale, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman shared his thoughts at the press conference:

"Beşiktaş Sompo Japan has played a very well basketball against Tofaş in the league and the quarterfinals. We have obviously dominated the game throughout three quarters especially with captain Doğuş’s defense and our smart offensive game. We have played a very well basketball throughout three quarters. I don’t want to talk about the final quarter, it is a subject that is needed to be addressed in detail but when I talk it makes an impression as if I am against some people in Turkish basketball. I would like to address another subject, we are playing Domestic Cup semi-finals but the arena is empty, unfortunately. It is a pity. People used to come and watch basketball in Ankara back in the day, they would get excited about it. Basketball is beautiful with an audience, with attention. The quarterfinals were on a week-day but the semi-finals are played on a Saturday afternoon but the arena is empty. This is a subject that needs to be addressed for the Turkish basketball as soon as possible. We will await our rival for the finale now.”

Our successful player Vasilije Micic also shared his thoughts at the press-conference: “I congratulate my teammates. We knew that Beşiktaş Sompo Japan has a character of never giving up the match. We’ve played with them in the season before. The victory wasn’t easy. We’ve played our best game that we’ve played in Turkey. We’re happy that we’ve won.”
