Dusan Ivkovic: “My players kept on fighting until the very end of the match...”

Defeating Rönesans Ankara TED Kolejliler 75-72 at the 14th week match of Spor Toto Basketball League, Anadolu Efes coach Dusan Ivkovic stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“It was a very tough and exciting game. I believe we deserved the victory. My players kept on fighting until the very end of the match. As to the match, the two halves were very different. The first half was under our total control. We maintained a 10 point margin overall, and we played good basketball. However, in some parts of the game, we failed to capitalize on easy layups, and the opponent’s Sanikidze scored 18 points in the first 20 minutes. The second half, unfortunately, did not go as we would have liked. We allowed Ted Kolej to return. Our shooting percentage was pretty bad this half, but I don’t think we performed bad on offense. Besides the 0/10 three point shots, we missed lots of easy shots. However, we kept on fighting until the very end of the match. 20 offensive rebounds throughout the match were very important and supportive for us. As a result, we won. And by the way, I would like to wish a happy new year to everyone once more. I hope 2016 brings peace and love to everybody. Starting from tomorrow, we will start preparing for our Euroleague match against Lokomotiv Kuban at Russia during the week...”

Anadolu Efes’s young talent Emircan Koşut also stated his thoughts: “It was a difficult game. We shot with a pretty low percentage today. We played with 42% in two pointers and 26% in three pointers. Yet we managed to win the match with solid defense at the clutch moment. This was important for us as our first win in the new year. I hope we will continue to rack up wins. I would also like to congratulate our opponent...”
