Dusan Ivkovic: “We played two different games in two halves...”

Defeating Banvit 89-83 at the 24th week match of Turkish Basketball League, Anadolu Efes coach Dusan Ivkovic stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“We deserved to win the match today. However, my team played two different games in two halves. We performed really well in the first half. After two offensive rebounds and three turnovers that we allowed, our players from the bench reacted well and we were leading by 17 points at the end of the first half. We had the game under control and played an aggressive game in this part of the match. However, our game in the second half was not satisfactory to me. We had lots of turnovers in the second half – we performed badly just as we did against Olympiacos in Athens, and started the third quarter with lots of turnovers. We had a total of 13 turnovers in the second half. We played with two point guards in some parts of the game for the sake of better control. We have to work on that. We have problems in terms of consistency, but we have to carry forward by learning lessons from our mistakes. We have a very important game ahead of us in the Euroleague, and we have to prepare as good as we can for this game...”

Our prolific player Birkan Batuk also spoke at the press conference: “We have had unfortunate back-to-back defeats both in the Euroleague and in the Turkish League. We are unable to perform well in the final quarters of our recent games. We were leading by 16 points at the start of the final quarter today, but the margin went down due to our turnovers. I hope we will remedy this as soon as possible. Our next match in the Euroleague within this week will arguably be the most critical one this season. We will host EA Milano. Starting from tomorrow, we are going to prepare for them. I hope we will win, pull one step ahead of Laboral Kutxa and advance to the next round...”
