
Our team started the game with the lineup of Larkin, Loyd, Dozier, Ercan and Poirier, taking a 3-0 lead in the opening minute with a three-pointer by Loyd. After baskets from Larkin and Poirier, Loyd added another three to make it 10-7 in our favor by the fourth minute. With points from Ercan, the score reached 16-13 in the sixth minute. Following five more points from Loyd, Dessert and Şehmus -who checked into the game during this stretch- also contributed with a basket each and we closed the first 10 minutes with a 10-point lead: 25-15. We opened the second quarter with a basket inside from Dessert to go up 27-18 in the 11th minute. As Şehmus, Poirier and Beaubois responded to the opponent’s scoring, the score moved to 34-35 in the 15th minute, prompting head coach Pablo Laso to call a timeout. After the timeout, we scored through Poirier, Loyd and Ercan in the final five minutes of the quarter and went into halftime ahead 43-41.
Our first points of the second half came from Poirier and Larkin and the game was tied at 52-52 in the 24th minute. Larkin broke the tie in the 26th minute to give us a 54-52 lead. After a basket inside by Dessert, back-to-back three-pointers from Loyd and Şehmus made it 62-56 at 28:30. However, we were unable to score in the remaining stretch and entered the final 10 minutes trailing 63-62. We started the fourth quarter with two made free throws by Şehmus to regain the lead at 64-63 in the 31st minute. During this period, consecutive points from Dozier, Loyd and Şehmus extended our lead to 77-67 by the 35th minute. In the closing moments, two spectacular dunks by Dessert, supported by contributions from Erkan and Larkin, sealed the 87-80 victory.
