Ahmet Çakı: “We stopped the opponent on their tracks in the third quarter...”

Defeating Fenerbahçe 91-70 at the second match of Spor Toto Basketball League playoff finals, Anadolu Efes coach Ahmet Çakı stated his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“I would like to start with the first match. Despite playing well for the most part, we had given our opponent the control of the match with an 18-3 scoring run in the third quarter, and we had lost the match in the final quarter. Today, we had a poor start into the game. We allowed 29 points in the first quarter. However, we continued to believe. Both the players and the court, and those coming off the bench... And we managed to get a one point lead at halftime. We had solid defense to get into the third quarter, and we stopped the opponent on their tracks. During this part of the game, we had points from breakaways and managed to share the ball well. Granger and Heurtel’s points in those moments were crucial. It was a challenging match. I would also like to congratulate Fenerbahçe. It has been a series well suited to the finals. I would like to congratulate my lads. It was very important to tie the series at 1-1 in our home court. Now, we will try to win on the road to reclaim the home court advantage...”

Anadolu Efes’s young talent Ahmet Düverioğlu also stated his thoughts: “We had fought well the last match, just like today. Yet today, we made fewer mistakes. We won by doing our absolute best. The series is actually starting now. Now, we will prepare as good as we can for our next match...”
