We hosted Spain's Valencia team in the third-week match of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and we were defeated 91-92. The first half of the game played at Sinan Erdem Dome ended with a 45-45 tie.
Micic, Beaubois, Clyburn, M'Baye, and Pleiss were our starting five, and we got the 5-3 advantage in the second minute with the points of Micic and M'Baye. Our team took the control of the game at the beginning and Pleiss and Clyburn’s baskets brought the score to 12-4 in the fourth minute and the visiting team's time-out came. Micic also contributed to Pleiss and M'Baye's points on the return of the time-out, and we were ahead 21-20 in the first 10 minutes of the game. We started the second period with Polonara and Micic's three-pointers, leading 27-23 in the 12th minute. Zizic, who subbed in the game in this section, scored two times from under the rim and after Polonara's three-pointer, we were behind by three points in the 17th minute: 34-37. We scored with Micic and Zizic in the remaining part and the first half of the match ended with a 45-45 tie.
We started the second half with Dunston and Beaubois's points and the score was 51-47 in the 23rd minute. With two three-point field goals scored by Elijah in a row, the score was 57-57 in the 26th minute, while the balance of the score was still intact in the 27th minute with three points from Micic: 60-60. After points from Clyburn and Zizic in the remaining time, we were leading 68-66 in the last 10 minutes of the game. Our first five points in the final period came from Pleiss and we brought the score to 73-66 in the 32nd minute. After Micic's layup and M'Baye's stylish dunk, the 34th minute was passed with our 77-74 advantage. After hitting Elijah at 34:30, we increased the lead to five points: 79-74. After Elijah’s lay-up, two hits from Dunston and one from Clyburn came from the foul line and we were leading 84-81 in the 37th minute. In the last minute of the match, when the score was 84-88, coach Ergin Ataman took a time-out. After the timeout, Clyburn's two points made the score 86-88 in the last 55 seconds. After the field goal of the opposing team, Clyburn scored another basket and the score was 88-90. Beaubois, who found the three-pointer after the opponent's turnover, put our team ahead again in the last 14 seconds: 91-90. After the score came to 91-92 in the last five seconds, we could not find a score in our last offense and we lost the match 91-92.
