Ataman: “It is important to win with 20-point difference…”

Defeating Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv 99-79 in the 16th-week match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague game, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman stated his thoughts post-game:

“We failed to start the match as aggressive as we’ve planned. We’ve given the chance of easy points to Wilbekin, and he finished the first quarter with 9 points. Then, we’ve changed our strategy, included Doğuş in the game, and increased the press on Wilbekin. We started to use Beaubois on offense because they didn’t leave enough gap for Larkin with the double team. Beaubois played excellent today, scored with almost every shot. We’ve used Krunoslav Simon for the double team and pressed on Wilbekin.

We began the second half more aggressively. We were better on both offense and defense. Beaubois and Micic played more productively. Singleton was amazing on defense and rebounds. Pleiss and Sertaç had some issues but managed to score. We’ve won with a 20-point difference. It held importance to win but we’ve won with a 20-point difference and found head-to-head advantage.”
