Ataman: “It’s extremely hard to win a match after being behind 22 points in Euroleague…”

Defeated by the Zenit St. Petersburg team 85-78 in the 21st-week away match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman stated his thoughts post-game:

"We started the match very badly. We failed to score within the first 7 positions, and this isn’t something we’re used to. Our team panicked and stressed out. We’ve given up the fight and gave easy shots to Zenit St. Petersburg. Hollins scored. Our team scored 3 three-pointers out of 17 tries and there was a major point difference at the end of the first half. We’ve played entirely different in the second half, fought well. We’ve returned to the match but Zenit St. Petersburg has very experienced players. Pangos scored 2 critical three-pointers at the end of the match. They’ve deserved to win, they’ve played amazingly within the first half and we were bad. It was different in the second half but it’s extremely hard to win a match after being behind 22 points in Euroleague. Congratulations to Zenit St. Petersburg.”
