CSKA Moscow: 88 - Anadolu Efes: 83

Playing against the Russian side CSKA Moscow on the road in the 10th week match of Euroleague Top 16, Anadolu Efes was defeated 88-83. Anadolu Efes was trailing 43-39 at the halftime of the match, played at USH CSKA Arena.

Starting the match with Heurtel, Draper, Perperoglou, Saric and Krstic, Anadolu Efes got its first points by Heurtel and Saric. Ahead 6-2 passing through the second minute, Efes made it 10-4 after points in the paint by Krstic, forcing the home team to call a timeout. After Perperoglou’s three pointer at 4.30 following the timeout, the margin reached nine points: 13-4. As the home team brought the difference down to two points in the following minute, Saric scored our 15th point. Trailing 16-15 with 2.40 left to play in the quarter, Efes scored with Draper, Saric and Cedi, leading 27-21 at the end of the first 10 minutes of the game.

As we got our first field goal by Lasme in the second quarter, Efes was leading 29-26 in the 12th minute. Trailing 30-29 at the TV timeout in the 15th minute after the opponent’s points, Efes hit a free throw with Krstic after the timeout, tying the game in the 16th minute: 30-30. Draper, Heurtel and Perperoglou’s points in the last four minutes helped Anadolu Efes towards a halftime score of 43-39.

As Perperoglou opened the score sheet for Efes in the second half, Draper had three points from an and-one at 21.20, bringing the margin down to one point: 45-44. With Perperoglou adding a mid-range jumper, Bjelica and Lasme got points from the paint, and the score was 52-54 while heading into the 25th minute. As Janning scored our 54th point, Efes grabbed the defensive rebound and scored with Krstic at 27.20, tying the game: 56-56. Following the opponent’s 6-0 scoring run within one and a half minute to make it 56-62, coach Ivkovic called a timeout. Getting one point by Saric from the foul line in the 1.20 minutes after the timeout, Anadolu Efes was trailing 66-57 at the end of the third quarter.

Starting the final quarter with Perperoglou and Janning’s three point field goals, Efes made it 63-68 in the 32nd minute. With Perperoglou’s two accurate free throws at 32.20, Efes brought the lead down to three at 65-68. Trailing 68-70 at 34.30 after Draper’s three pointer, Efes brought the margin back to two points at 36.30 with Saric and Heurtel’s points: 73-75. After the opponent’s scoring run to make it 81-73, Efes scored with Saric, Krstic and Draper, bringing the lead down to three points with 40 seconds left to play in the match. 81-84. Getting a single field goal with Heurtel in the last 40 seconds, Anadolu Efes was unable to catch the opponent and left the court defeated 88-83.
