Dusan Ivkovic: “We performed much better compared to our last match...”

Defeating Darüşşafaka Doğuş 84-71 at the third week match of Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 Group E, Anadolu Efes Coach Dusan Ivkovic commented at the post-game press conference:

“It has been our second match against a top team like Darüşşafaka Doğuş in the same week. This match has been a lot different from the one we played at Spor Toto Basketball League. Darüşşafaka Doğuş is a very powerful and tough opponent. Our control of the game was much better compared to our last match. We performed very well on defense, too. We only allowed 27 points in the first half, which demonstrates how good our defense is. Today, we played a more balanced and controlled game. In the first half, we failed to capitalize on uncontested shots. In this part of the game, we hit 6/19 of our shots, which is about 30%. There were lots of good things about the way we played. Today, we scored 27 points from fast breaks. This makes up almost 30% of our total scoring throughout the match. We need to keep working a lot. We are only a few days away from February and March, which are extremely important months for the season. What we do in these two months will be a determining factor for the remaining part of the season. One of our dominant players, Nenad Krstic will not be back with us soon based on our expectations. Although we expected him to be back in January according to initial reports, recent data indicate that he won’t be back before March. We need to maintain our hard work...”

Showcasing the best performance for Anadolu Efes with an index score of 27, Jayson Granger also stated his thoughts: “It was a big achievement for us today. We had the control in most parts of the game. We were ahead of our opponent in scoring for three individual quarters. Compared to our match against Darüşşafaka Doğuş at Spor Toto Basketball League earlier this week, our control of the game was match better today. We are very happy for the win.”
