Ergin Ataman: “It was an important away game win for us…”

Defeating Türk Telekom team 84-76 in the 21st-week match of Tahincioğlu Basketball Super League game, Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman shared his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

“We didn’t play with Shane Larkin today. His performance was very high levelled in the Barcelona match. We have Maccabi Tel Aviv match on Thursday ahead. So, we wanted to let him rest for that match. Also, we didn’t give Beaubois enough chance these days. We wanted to make him play and win. He is one of the important offence weapons of the team. We’ve let Moerman rest as well, and gave a chance to Motum. These are positive situations for us. Another amazing news is Krunoslav Simon had a child. We’ve left him in Istanbul. We have extensive rotation options. We’ve played with our foreign players who have less chance to play. We’ve missed a lot of empty shots in the first half and our outside players have failed score. Though once we’ve started to score in the second half, we’ve managed to grab a big point difference. Then we’ve rested our most playing players thinking ahead for the Thursday match again.  We’ve hesitated a little then and made some mistakes defence-wise. We’ve missed easy shots but it was a solid win in the end. Türk Telekom is one of the good teams of the league. This is an important away game win for us.”

Our team captain Doğuş Balbay also shared his thoughts at the press conference: “We’ve focused on Türk Telekom match right after the Barcelona victory. I believe that we’ve played very well in this tough away game. I thank to Ankara audience. They’ve welcomed us very well as usual. We will prepare for the Tel Aviv match now.”
