In the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four final match held in Belgrade, Serbia, we faced Spain's Real Madrid team and we won the match 58-57. We finished the first half of the match played at Stark Arena, 29-34 behind.
After this result, we reached the championship for the second time in a row after the 2020-21 season in the Euroleague.
As we started with Larkin, Micic, Anderson, Moerman, and Pleiss starting five, the first point of the match came with Micic's one-hit free throw. With three-pointers from Pleiss and Micic, we were ahead 7-6 in the fifth minute of the game. In the second five-minute part of the quarter, we scored two points with Micic and six points with Larkin and finished the first 10 minutes 14-15 behind. We started the second period with Micic and Singleton's under-the-rim points and we were leading 20-18 in the 12th minute. At 13:30, Dunston's stylish dunk brought the score to 22-22, while Larkin and Micic's points brought the score to 29-31 at 18:30. We couldn't find a way to score in the remaining 1:30 minutes and finished the first half of the match 29-34 behind.
Our first basket in the second half came from Pleiss and it was passed with a score of 31-37 in the 22nd minute. We also hit the foul line with Pleiss and the score was 33-40 in the 26th minute. Pleiss also hit a three-pointer, bringing the score to 36-40 in the 27th minute. With four points from Micic, we narrowed the gap to two points at 28:30: 40-42. We couldn't find a score in the remaining part and we were behind 40-42 in the last 10 minutes of the match. We started the final period with Micic's three-pointer, leading in the 31st minute: 43-42. Singleton, who made a break for the pass and found the dunk, brought the score to 45-42 at 31:30. With four points by Pleiss, the score was 49-47 at 34:30, and the score was 49-50 in the 35th minute with the opponent's three-pointer. With Pleiss' mid-range hit, we took the lead again in the 36th minute: 51-50. Pleiss also found a slam dunk and we brought the score to 53-50 in the 37th minute. Micic responded in the same way to the opposing team's three-pointer we were ahead 56-53 in the last two minutes of the match. We entered the last minute of the game with a 58-55 lead with Pleiss's lay-up. While the score was 58-57 in the last 44 seconds of the match, neither team could score in the remaining time and we won the match 58-57. The most valuable player of the Final Four was Vasilije Micic with his performance.
