Playing on the road against Fenerbahçe at the third match of Spor Toto Basketball League playoff finals, Anadolu Efes was defeated 72-84. Anadolu Efes was trailing 33-43 at the halftime of the match, played at Ülker Arena. With this result, Anadolu Efes is trailing 2-1 in the series. The fourth match of the series will be played at Ülker Arena at 20:00 on Thursday, June 9th.

Starting the match with Heurtel, Doğuş, Cedi, Saric and Dunston, Anadolu Efes’s first field goal was scored by Saric. With three points by Dunston from an and-one, Efes was leading 5-2 past the first minute. Trailing 11-12 at the TV timeout in the fifth minute following Saric and Tyus’s points, Efes hit a three pointer by Granger after the timeout to balance the scoreboard: 14-14. Getting a slam dunk by Brown and a three point field goal by Furkan in the remaining duration of the quarter, Efes was behind 19-23 at the end of the first 10 minutes of the game. Trailing 19-28 past the first two minutes of the second quarter, Efes got a three pointer by Heurtel, down 22-28 at 12.15. With the score 24-33 following Granger’s layup in the 15th minute, Dunston scored three points with an and-one at 15.20 to cut the lead down to nine points: 27-36. Following the opponent’s three point field goal, Ahmet Çakı called a timeout. Scoring with Cedi and Dunston after the timeout, Efes was behind 32-41 with 1.40 minutes left to play in the half. Brown’s one point from the foul line in the remaining duration helped Anadolu Efes towards a halftime score of 33-43.

Starting the second half with Doğuş and Dunston’s points, Anadolu Efes was trailing 36-47 at 21.30. Bringing the lead down to nine points with Cedi at 22.30, Efes was behind 41-47 at 23.30 after Doğuş’s three pointer. Following a reverse layup by Heurtel and two free throws by Saric, Efes cut the lead down to five points at 24.30: 45-50. With the score 45-55 at 25.30, Ahmet Çakı called a timeout. Saric’s five points after the timeout cut the lead back to five points at 26.20: 50-55. Converting Dunston’s steal into a slam dunk with Heurtel, Anadolu Efes grabbed the offensive rebound with Birkan and scored the three pointer with Heurtel, tying the game with 2.30 minutes left to play in the quarter: 55-55. Getting another field goal with Heurtel, Efes reclaimed the lead after a long time in the 28th minute: 57-55. Following two points by the opponent in the final two minutes, the score was tied 57-57 while heading into the final quarter. Unable to score in the first two minutes of the final quarter, Efes was trailing 57-64 past the 32nd minute. As we got our first points by Saric in this quarter, Efes was trailing 61-68 past the 34th minute. With the score 63-72 past the 36th minute following Granger’s mid-range jumper, the score was 64-76 with four minutes left after Saric’s free throw. Unable to bring the lead down in the remaining duration despite scoring with Birkan and Tyus, Anadolu Efes left the court defeated 72-84.
