Final word by Anadolu Efes: 86-78

Hosting the Italian side EA Milano in the 13th week match of Euroleague Top 16 Group F, Anadolu Efes, despite trailing by 15 points in the 15th minute, won the game 86-78. Anadolu Efes was trailing 42-36 at the halftime of the match, played at Abdi İpekçi Arena.

Starting the match with Heurtel, Janning, Perperoglou, Saric and Krstic, Anadolu Efes got its first points by Krstic in its first possession. Getting one more field goal by Janning in the first five minutes of the game, Efes was trailing 13-4 at the TV timeout. With four points by Krstic following the timeout, Efes was trailing 13-8 at 5.40. Responding to the opponent’s five points with Krstic’s field goal from the paint, Efes had three points by Saric and Lasme in the final two minutes of the quarter, and was behind 24-13 at the end of the first quarter. Starting the second quarter with Furkan’s layup, Efes had baskets from the paint by Krstic and Bjelica, trailing 30-19 while heading into the 14th minute. Heurtel’s two back-to-back three pointers and Krstic’s slam dunk brought the margin to seven points, followed by the opponent’s timeout in the 16th minute: 27-34. Trailing 38-31 with Heurtel and Krstic’s points after the timeout, Efes had five points by Bjelica and Saric in the final two minutes of the half, trailing 42-36 at the end of the first half.

Scoreless in the first two minutes of the second half, Efes was behind 48-38 in the 22nd minute following Perperoglou’s field goal. Scoring with Heurtel and Saric, Efes was trailing 55-46 in the 25th minute. Efes continued to score after the TV timeout with Saric and Heurtel and brought the margin down to five points with 3.35 left to play in the quarter, forcing the opponent to call a timeout: 50-55. With five points by Heurtel after the timeout, the margin was only one point with two minutes left to play in the quarter: 56-57. Scoring four points by Krstic and three points by Heurtel in the remaining two minutes, Anadolu Efes reclaimed the lead after a long time, and was leading 63-59 while heading into the final quarter. Starting the final quarter with Krstic and Heurtel’s points, Efes, at 31.10, increased the margin to nine points: 68-59. Increasing the lead to double digits for the first time in the game with Cedi’s three-point field goal, the team made it 71-61 in the 32nd minute. Leading 74-61 at 33.30 with Saric’s three pointer, Efes was ahead 78-65 with Lasme and Heurtel while heading into the 37th minute. Leading 80-70 in the last two minutes with Perperoglou’s field goal, Anadolu Efes maintained the lead in the remaining duration and with Saric and Perperoglou’s points to seal the game, left the court victorious 86-78.
