Anadolu Efes reaches the semi finals: 79-73

Playing against Galatasaray at the quarter finals of Royal Halı Turkish Cup, Anadolu Efes won the game 79-73. Anadolu Efes was trailing 43-41 at the halftime of the match, played at Gaziantep Karataş Şahinbey Sports Hall.

Starting the match with Doğuş, Janning, Perperoglou, Saric and Lasme, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Lasme. After transition points by Saric and Janning, Lasme’s nice slam dunk put Efes up in the fourth minute for the first time in the game: 8-6. Following Doğuş and Janning’s points, Lasme got another basket in the paint, helping Efes enjoy a 15-9 lead in the sixth minute. Unable to score in the remaining duration, Anadolu Efes was trailing 18-15 after the first quarter. As Deniz made a nice dunk to score the first points for Anadolu Efes in the second quarter, Heurtel’s three pointer made it 20-24 in the 12th minute. After Furkan scored our 22nd point, Heurtel and Janning’s three pointers helped Anadolu Efes close the lead down to three points in the 15th minute: 28-31. Heurtel’s consecutive eight points helped Efes make it 36-37 in the 17th minute. Getting five more points in the remaining three minutes of the half with Cedi and Heurtel, Anadolu Efes went to the locker room trailing 43-41 at the halftime.

Getting three points through an and-one with Janning in our first possession in the second half, Anadolu Efes tied the game: 44-44. As both teams responding to each other's field goals, the score was 50-50 in the 26th minute after Perperoglou, Doğuş and Saric’s points. Breaking the tie with Lasme, Efes reclaimed the lead after a long time: 52-50. With two accurate free throws by Perperoglou, Efes increased the lead to four points with 3.20 left to the end of the quarter: 54-50. Following five points by the opponent, Efes scored with Bjelica and was leading 56-55 in the 29th minute. Getting three more points in the remaining duration with Cedi and Doğuş, Anadolu Efes tied the game before heading into the final quarter: 59-59. Starting the final quarter with points by Bjelica and Saric, Efes was leading 65-61 at 31.30. Increasing the lead to six points with Janning, Efes made it 67-61 at 32.30. Ahead 73-66 in the 37th minute with Heurtel and Bjelica’s points, Anadolu Efes stole the ball and increased the lead to nine points with Cedi, forcing the opponent to call a timeout: 75-66. Responding to the opponent’s three pointer after the timeout with Bjelica’s own three, Efes was leading 78-69 with 1.50 left to play in the game. Getting one more point by Heurtel in the remaining duration, Anadolu Efes won the match 79-73 and reached the semi finals.

In the semi final match, Anadolu Efes will play tomorrow (Friday, 20 February) against Darüşşafaka at 20.00.
