Anadolu Efes takes down Darüşşafaka, reaches the finals: 88-73

Playing against Darüşşafaka on the semi final match of Royal Halı Turkish Cup, Anadolu Efes won the game 88-73 and reached the finals. Anadolu Efes was ahead 48-45 at the halftime of the match, played at Gaziantep Karataş Şahinbey Sports Hall.

Starting the match with Doğuş, Janning, Cedi, Perperoglou and Krstic, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Doğuş. Ahead 8-4 heading into the third minute with Krstic’s points, Efes made it 11-6 with Perperoglou’s three pointer. Getting another field goal by Krstic, Efes was leading 13-12 at the TV timeout. With Janning and Cedi’s points after the timeout, Efes was leading 21-14 with three minutes left to play in the quarter. As Lasme scored our 22nd point with an accurate free throw, Birkan hit a three pointer shortly after he was subbed in: 25-20. With Saric’s three pointer followed by the opponent’s points, Efes was ahead 28-26 at the end of the first quarter.

As Lasme and Perperoglou scored our first points in the second quarter, Efes was ahead 33-30 at 13.30. After Saric scored a field goal to increase the lead to five points, Efes couldn’t prevent the opponent’s scoring run. However, with Krstic’s successive free throws, Efes reclaimed the lead 38-37 in the 16th second. Leading 43-37 heading into the last 2.30 of the half with Perperoglou’s five points, Anadolu Efes was ahead 48-45 at the halftime following Lasme and Janning’s field goals.

Opening the score sheet in the second half with a three pointer, Saric made it 51-45 at 21.30. Deniz followed that with a layup after the steal, increasing the lead to eight points: 53-45. Subsequent to Saric’s single accurate free throw at 23.30, Deniz got another one from under the paint, keeping ahead 56-50 in the 25th minute. Increasing the lead to double digits for the first time in the game with Perperoglou and Janning’s three point field goals, Efes made it 62-51 with 3.30 left to play in the quarter. After Darüşşafaka’s timeout, Saric and Birkan’s scoring helped Anadolu Efes extend the lead to 15 points in the last minute of the quarter: 68-53. Allowing four points in the remaining duration, Anadolu Efes was leading 68-57 at the end of the third quarter.

Starting the final quarter with Krstic’s mid-range jumper, Efes was leading 73-60 in the 31st minute after Heurtel’s three point field goal. Ahead 77-64 passing through the 35th minute with four points by Lasme, Efes scored with Saric, Janning, Doğuş, Deniz and Furkan in the last five minutes to win the game 88-73 and reach the finals.

In the final, Anadolu Efes will play against Fenerbahçe at 17.00 on Sunday, February 22nd.
