Dusan Ivkovic: “We were poor in controlling the game in the second half...”

Defeated by the Croatian side Cedevita Zagreb 81-75 at the third week match of Euroleague First Round Group B, Anadolu Efes Coach Dusan Ivkovic commented at the post-game press conference:

“Cedevita Zagreb was the better side especially in the second half of the game. Our performance was unexpectedly poor in the second half. In fact, we almost lost control of the game in the second half. At the end of the game, I had a small meeting with players and coaches. In the second half, our performance was just the opposite of what’s normal for us. Our control of the game was terrible on offense and defense. We made 9 turnovers and allowed 10 offensive rebounds in that half. We allowed Cedevita lots of second chances, and they got easy baskets six times simply by tipping, even without handling the ball. I didn’t expect the game would proceed like that. There was a change in rotation after Birkan’s unexpected injury, because Birkan is generally in the starting five and has important tasks in our rotation. We now have to recover immediately. We will play against Büyükçekmece in less than 48 hours. We have to prepare as good as we can for this game...”

Showcasing the best performance for Anadolu Efes with an index score of 16, Bryant Dunston also stated his thoughts: “Today’s result was not favorable for us. We had too many ups and downs throughout the game. In the first two quarters, we were good on defense. We got transitions points, and grabbed offensive rebounds. We need to make it a habit to win at home. We can do this by performing better.”
