Efes wins the breathtaking clash at Milano: 73-71

Playing against the Italian side EA Milano on road at the sixth week match-up of Euroleague Top 16, Anadolu Efes got a breathtaking 73-71 win. Anadolu Efes was trailing 36-34 at the halftime of the match, played at Mediolanum Forum. With this victory, Efes had its fourth win in six weeks.

Starting the match with Draper, Janning, Cedi, Bjelica and Lasme, Anadolu Efes got its first field goal by Cedi with a three pointer. Tying the game at 5 with Bjelica's nice slam dunk, Efes got three pointers by Heurtel and Bjelica, tying the game once more at 4.40: 11-11. Ahead 13-12 for the first time in the game at 6.20 with Lasme's mid-range jumper, Anadolu Efes scored with Bjelica, Cedi, Janning and Draper, leading 20-17 at the end of the first 10 minutes. Starting the second quarter with Krstic's accurate free throws, Efes made it 24-19 with Saric at 11.20. Failing to prevent the opponent's scoring run to trail 28-24 in the 15th minute, Anadolu Efes reclaimed the lead with Krstic and Heurtel: 29-28. With the score 33-29 in favor of the opponent in the last 2.40 of the half, coach Ivkovic called a timeout. Three points by Janning and one point each by Bjelica and Heurtel in the remaining time after the timeout helped Anadolu Efes towards a halftime score of 36-34 in favor of the opponent.

Getting his first field goal in the game with a three-pointer to start the second half, Perperoglou put Anadolu Efes up in the 21st minute: 37-36. Following Draper's field goal, Anadolu Efes continued to score with red-hot Perperoglou, taking the lead 44-42 in the 25th minute. As both teams responding to each other's field goals, the score was 50-50 at 28.30 after Krstic and Perperoglou. Efes got four points from the foul line with Perperoglou in the last 1.30 of the quarter, finishing the third quarter tied at 54.

Getting confronted with frequent fouls in the paint within the first minutes of the final quarter, Anadolu Efes made it 58-59 at 32.30 with four points by Bjelica, Heurtel and Cedi from the foul line. Following Draper and Bjelica's points in the paint to give Anadolu Efes a 62-61 lead at 33.30, Saric's three pointer at 34.30 forced the opponent to call a timeout: 65-61. After the opponent's three-point field goal, Perperoglou responded with his own, increasing the lead back to four points in the 36th minute: 68-64. Trailing 69-68 with two minutes left after the opponent's five points, Anadolu Efes reclaimed the lead with Bjelica's spectacular layup with 1.40 left to play: 70-69. Forcing the opponent to a turnover, Heurtel increased the lead to three points in the last minute: 72-69. Following the opponent's field goal, Perperoglou was fouled with 2.3 seconds to play and made one of his shots, as Anadolu Efes left the court victorious 73-71.
