Pre-season winning streak continues: 72-64

Maintaining the preparations for the new season, Anadolu Efes won the pre-season match against İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediye 72-64. Anadolu Efes was ahead 41-34 at the halftime of the match, played at Abdi İpekçi Arena.

Starting the match with Heurtel, Cedi, Honeycutt, Brown and Samet, Anadolu Efes’s first field goal was scored by Cedi. With our new signings Honeycutt and Samet’s points in the paint followed by Brown’s field goal, Efes was leading the game at 4.30: 8-7. Following a 15-9 lead with Cedi and Brown’s points, the opponent tied the game in the subsequent two minutes. With a three pointer by Thomas and a layup by Furkan in the final moments, Efes was ahead 20-17 past the first 10 minutes of the game. Starting the second quarter with Dunston and Granger’s points, Efes was leading 26-24 at 13.30 following Honeycutt’s field goal from the paint. Leading 32-27 past the 15th minute with Thomas and Cedi's points, Efes received contribution in score by Dunston, ahead 39-34 past the 19th minute. After Cedi’s buzzer beater within the final minute, Anadolu Efes was leading 41-34 at the end of the first half.

Starting the second half with Doğuş’s layup, Anadolu Efes had scoring with Heurtel and Brown, ahead 47-41 at 22.30. As Efes carried the margin into double digits for the first time in the match with two fast-break slam dunks by Honeycutt and Brown, the opponent coach called a timeout: 51-41. Ahead 53-42 with Thomas’s points following the timeout, Efes got scoring by Granger, Doğuş and Samet, leading 60-48 while heading into the final quarter. As Granger scored our first field goal in the final quarter, the lead was 64-54 into the 34th minute with Brown’s mid-range jumper. Efes was ahead 68-60 past the 35th minute following Heurtel and Cedi’s transition points. Increasing the lead to 10 points with four points by Dunston, Efes was ahead 72-62 in the 37th minute. Following the opponent’s field goal in the remaining duration, Anadolu Efes left the court victorious 72-64.

Winning all three pre-season games so far, Anadolu Efes will participate in the GSA Smart Casual Event Tournament in Antalya along with Beşiktaş, Tofaş and the Russian side Unics Kazan from 15 to 18 September.
