
Our team started the game with the lineup of Loyd, Weiler-Babb, Dozier, Ercan and Dessert. Our first basket came from Ercan in the second minute. With four points from Dessert, we trailed 12-6 at the five-minute mark. In the second five-minute stretch of the quarter, Loyd and Erkan each hit a three-pointer, while Ercan added two points from the free-throw line and we finished the first 10 minutes trailing 17-14. We opened the second quarter with four points from Ercan and the score was 18-20 in the 12th minute. With baskets from Şehmus and Smits, the score became 24-30 in the 17th minute. After Loyd made two free throws, we went into halftime trailing 39-26.
Our first points of the second half came from Loyd and Dessert and the score was 33-42 in the 22nd minute. With five points each from Dozier and Loyd, the score moved to 43-48 in the 25th minute. Contributions from Dozier and Loyd, along with baskets in the paint by Ercan and Dessert, brought the score to 51-56 in the 29th minute. A spectacular dunk by Lee on the final possession of the quarter meant we entered the last 10 minutes trailing 58-53. In the opening possession of the final period, Loyd knocked down a three-pointer to cut the deficit to two points: 56-58. We then scored consecutive baskets through Weiler-Babb, Dozier and Şehmus to make it 67-69 in the 35th minute. After Smits hit a three-pointer, baskets from Şehmus made it 76-78 in the 38th minute. With 40 seconds remaining, Loyd’s layup brought the score to 78-80. Following a defensive rebound, Swider hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to seal an 81-80 victory.
